I’ve been dual-booting multi-booting, usually for a decade or more and I often see lingering pagefile. But then, if it’s a portable installation on a removable device, you probably shouldn’t run boot time config unless pagfdefrag device is connected and accessible at boot time. It’s GPL, but not Portable by extractinf, last i checked. In Windows, when we do not pagedefag files contributed Defragment didefrag, for example, files that when opened or used will not be didefragmen, it causes defragmn process with results that are not perfect, Sysinternals PageDefrag product release, an application that do Defragment when booting Windows, this is a breakthrough technology, but did you know that do Defragment every boot time would speed up damage to the hard disk, defrag should be done regularly every month, as in the case of my computer, because every time my hard drive booting didefrag eventually occur frequently crashes and Blue Screen of Death.
But given the nature of the application, I think it can be accepted as portable. So defragging would be of only transitory benefit anyhow, until the next restart. Wouldn’t you get more or less the same effect as defragging by setting the pagefile size to a minimum 16Mb with my laptoprebooting, then setting the pagefile to the size you want, and rebooting again?
